Brick

  • One of the oldest building material brick continues to be a most popular and leading construction material because of being cheap, durable and easy to handle and work with.
  • Clay bricks are used for building-up exterior and interior walls, partitions, piers, footings and other load bearing structures.

Calculate number of bricks  from above wall figure.We will calculate number of bricks from type

  1. Number of bricks with mortar
  2. Number of bricks without mortar

Number of bricks without mortar :

Givin dimentions:

L = 2 m OR 6.65 feet      Note: ( 1 m = 3.28 feet)

w = 0.23 m OR 0.754 feet

H = 2 m OR  6.65 feet

We know that size of brick a/c to IS-code ( Indian standard ) or you can use your standard code a/c to your country.

Brick size :

Lenght (l) = 19 cm = 0.19 m

Width (w) = 9 cm = 0.09 m

Height (h) 9 cm = 0.09 m

Number of bricks without mortar = ( Wall dementions / brick dimentions ) :

Number of bricks = (2×0.23×2) / (.19x.09x.09) = 597.79 bricks OR  we can say = 598 bricks

Number of bricks with mortar = { Wall dementions / (brick dimentions +mortar thickness) } :

use mortar thickness : 0.1 m

Number of Bricks = ( 2×0.23×2 ) / ( 0.2x.01x.01 ) = 460 bricks

Note : similerly  you can find number bricks by taking both dimentions ( brick and wall ) in inches or feet
